Time for help
Family planning is a very private matter and it takes a lot of courage to approach a third party about it.
However, the step of seeking medical help can also be a great relief, because reasons for the lack of pregnancy can be sought and ways of treatment can be found. Often only small steps are necessary to achieve pregnancy.
If you are not pregnant after about a year of regular unprotected sex, it is time to seek medical help. This step makes sense at an earlier stage if reasons are known that limit fertility - for example, an obstruction of the fallopian tubes in the woman or limited fertility in the man. For patients over 35 years of age, it can also be useful to look earlier into possible reasons for the absence of pregnancy. As a rule, couples first consult the gynaecologist, who then initiates further examinations to find the cause of the childlessness.
