The website follows the harmonised European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Conformance Level AA.
Below, we explain the specific accessibility improvements implemented, following the four WCAG principles — Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust — and how compliance is continuously monitored to ensure ongoing accessibility.
4.1 Perceivable
- All non-text content is provided with meaningful alternative text.
- Decorative elements are consistently hidden using aria-hidden="true".
- Missing or vague alternative texts have been added or improved.
- Text and interactive components meet a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1. Critical areas were measured and adjusted accordingly.
4.2 Operable
- The website is fully navigable via keyboard.
- All interactive elements feature a consistently visible focus indicator.
- Duplicate IDs and improperly nested table elements have been corrected to ensure proper focus order for screen readers.
- Buttons and dialogues were equipped with descriptive ARIA labels; non-essential focusable elements were hidden using aria-hidden.
4.3 Understandable
- Structure and navigation are consistently designed.
- Empty or incorrectly nested headings were reorganised.
- All links have clear and descriptive labels.
- Repetitive use of identical link text for different destinations was removed.
- Form error messages are shown in context and additionally announced using ARIA live regions.
4.4 Robust
- The source code is valid according to HTML 5.1.
- All main areas are marked using semantic landmarks (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer>) or suitable ARIA roles.
- Improper ARIA implementations, especially unnamed dialogues, were corrected.
- Automated accessibility tests were supplemented by manual screen reader testing (e.g. VoiceOver) and direct code reviews.
